DC Babymoon

Mark and I had an amazing getaway this month to Washington, DC, where we originally met and lived for four years (before baby boy arrives in another couple of months!).  I had not returned to the city since we moved away six years ago, so it was especially meaningful for me to be back there.  We still have a handful of good friends there that we got to catch up with, and had fun revisiting old places like the site of our first meeting,
old workplaces,
former residences,
favorite restaurants,
iconic places,
and plenty of beautiful city parks.
Such a refreshing getaway!

Misc July

Fun from this month.  This happened in the car one day (for like 10 minutes!) and was just so sweet.
Weekend water fun in the yard.
Storytime with Dad.
And a relatively new phenomenon around here, storytime with big brother!  Such a fun new thing for the kids to share, Carlton reading to his little siblings.  It's an amazing new stage, watching him grow into his reading skills and even further into his love for it.
Mad scientist presentation at the library (Carlton was quick to volunteer :).
And a quick play moment at the Children's Museum.

Fourth of July

For the second year in a row, we started the Fourth early early by heading out to Peachtree Street to cheer on the runners in the road race.  Unfortunately, we didn't stay as long as last year or manage to get any photos because it was raining steadily the whole time!  The kids lasted about an hour in good spirits before all were too wet and chilly.  Still a fun festive way to start the holiday.  Here they are at least in their patriotic gear.  Ezra started willingly enough (though no smile),

but by the end of the photo series was quite eager to get away from the hands of his big siblings, ha!

Then in the afternoon we joined our friends the Wests across the street for a cookout.  Complete with mural painting,
sparklers,
and our very own firecrackers.  Perfect.
