Carlton's party was a hit! We did a wild animal-themed party (as his nursery is decorated), so we had a chocolate-raspberry cake with raspberry elephants on top.
There were also elephant cookies to enjoy, amidst other snacks. Elephants are a favorite around here, as both of his little sleep buddies are elephants.
I made a photo collage of Carlton's first year, so we could see him grow from newborn to toddler.
Lots of our wonderful friends turned out to help Carlton celebrate his first year. And my sister got to be here, too, which was so fun.
He loved the singing and the candle blowing! Can't you tell from this photo?
When it was time for his big moment, Carlton was very unsure of what was supposed to happen. Was he supposed to touch this giant brown mass?
Initially, he would have none of it.
But after Mark and I both encouraged him,
he decided this cake business wasn't so bad after all.
In fact, it was pretty darn good!

I see you guys put a big cover on the floor in preparation for the cake eating event. That's smart! Glad the celebration was a hit. Hope Carlton was not an energy bunny until the wee hours of the morning :)
