This past weekend we took Carlton on his first camping trip, over to a beautiful lakeside campground in the Cascades. We went with three other couples from Mark's work, and had a great time, with perfect weather.
Carlton loved hiking in our backpack carrier for the first time.
One of the other couples brought their toddler, a sweet little girl named Ava, and she and Carlton became fast friends and hiking buddies.
By the end of our hike, which was really more of a stroll around the lake, Carlton was tuckered out.
And he also slept really well at night, hooray! We got a peapod portable sleeper for him, so he had his own little tent to roll around in inside our tent.
Carlton seemed to enjoy sitting around the campfire as much as his parents did, and all in all, loved being outdoors all weekend.
Carlton also started his swim lessons last week, so I wanted to share some photos from his first couple of lessons. He's still figuring out this whole big pool thing, but by the end of his second lesson yesterday, he seemed to decide that he's going to like swimming and splashing after all. Two of my friends from my local moms' group are in the lessons with us, so Carlton gets to hang out with his friends Georgia and Charlotte - fun for the kids and the moms!
