Eight months old and growing

Carlton turned eight months last Saturday! He is one big, healthy boy - eating three good meals a day in addition to nursing, outgrowing his infant car seat, and contributing daily to the pile of outgrown clothes in the closet. He is so very happy, and more and more of a joy to be around every day (if that's possible!) Here he is posing for his 8-month photo with a signature face:

We practice standing up a lot these days, as he loves it, and we're trying to encourage using those little legs.
He especially loves it when it involves being able to reach coveted treasures like the TV remote (or the cell phone).
He had another first this past week - riding in the shopping cart in the grocery store (I've been carrying him in the Bjorn til now). He really had a blast, getting to sit upright and look around at all the food and people, despite the utter boredom that this picture seems to indicate.

We try to spend as much time outside as possible, and yes, even though it's late July, we still have to sport hoodies some days in the middle of the day! Craziness! Here we are playing by the water this week....Carlton finding the camera lens cover the interesting object of the morning.

That is, until he noticed the camera itself that I was holding, which won out...
And one last fun shot - playing in the laundry pile. I just know he can't wait til he can start making real messes!

I think that picture in which he discovers the camera is the funniest EVAH. You can tell he's thinking "Ooooh, looks pretty nice..."
